Captains' Deck!

Dear Members, Images turns one in August. We actually began holding meetings last July. Odyssey the blog was launched around October last year. We do hope this year you will be more active bloggers and make this your own page .

Just remember you all have a 'talking whale trapped inside you, desperate to get out' as J.M.Barrie
told young Peter so many years ago.

Since we do not always have time to share our views during the session itself, feel free to post your feedback here.Your own personal odyssey..your foray into Literature or just good reading must be interesting indeed. Share some of your voyages of discovery with us here on this page.

Last monday's session on the Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami was both enjoyable and enriching....Meghna did a great job by introducing a Japanese writer to the club members...his unique style of writing and theme are bound to interest adults and teenagers alike...the prologue to the novel "Kafka on the Shore" that was read out during the session was truly intriguing and surreal...a big thank you to Meghna for conducting such a wonderful session....

start reading daphne du maurier. i am sure most girls would have read rebecca and one or two of her other novels. show, if you can, the film adaptation of rebecca, and you could also have a reading of her shortstories. i have just read some, they are quite nice.

Last month i watched an excellent film called 'Coraline'.It has been directed by Henry Sellick and is based on a bestseller graphic novel by Neil Gaiman. It is a fantasy horror film in which Sellick uses his quirky Gothic techniques and clay animation to bring the characters and his sets to life.here is a small summary of the film :
A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life - only much better. But when her adventure turns dangerous, and her counterfeit parents (including Other Mother) try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home - and save her family.
If for nothing else , watch it just to appreciate the art of animation and a new film-making technique!
